Thursday, 22/7/2010 12:58
An 18-tonne hybrid distribution truck is to be trialled by DHL Supply Chain.

Having been unveiled recently in Hatfield, it will first be used in the London area as part of a collaboration with Volvo Trucks.

The group intends to achieve up to 15 per cent in fuel savings in a move that will please those who advocate the implementation of sustainable supply chain measures.

The partnership forms part of a drive to transform the logistics market, while the vehicle is powered by an electric motor and diesel engine.

Ian MacAulay, innovation manager for DHL Supply Chain's UK fleet engineering services, stated: "Reducing carbon emissions is an important issue facing businesses and we always endeavour to make sure we drive positive environmental change."

Elsewhere, Hellmann Worldwide Logistics recently announced it has taken up a new building in Beylikduzu, Istanbul, as part of a warehouse expansion strategy.
