Green policies 'need certainty to avoid harming logistics strategy'

Companies involved in logistics strategy need certainty about the UK's stance on climate change and emissions, a leading organisation has warned.
 
Dr Neil Bentley, deputy director-general of the Confederation of British Industry, has warned that investors in UK industries such as manufacturing are struggling to understand the country's stance and proposals.
 
He warned that many are unsure how the current framework applies and as a result this is damaging the industries that Britain needs.
 
"The UK is in danger of straining to hit its targets but missing the point: that we need an economy that's low carbon and competitive," Dr Bentley warned.
He said that despite the country's green ambitions, both the economic and political realities of the approach it has adopted are preventing it achieving its aims.
 
Earlier this month, the International Air Cargo Association called on governments to revise their current regulatory approach and to liberalise the air cargo industry.
