NHS celebrates new supply chain technology

The NHS' supply chain has benefited from the inclusion of information management software, it has been reported.

Both incoming invoices and documentation related to non-pharmaceutical based product supply for English Primary Care Trusts will now be handled by the technology at seven key sites for the NHS, leading to increased efficiency throughout the supply chain.

Mark Thompson, CEO of software company Infonic, said in a CBROnline.com report: "I'm delighted at the successful implementation of Infonic's document management software.

"The potential of Infonic's document capture and workflow automation technologies to add efficiencies to the operations of many parts of the NHS is significant and we see this as a good beach head from which to build a broader relationship with the supply chain team."

Any company wishing to improve its own supply chain should look into the possibility of hiring a third-party supply chain management company, which can provide experience and confidence in adapting a supply chain to cut costs and improve efficiency.
