Levels of best practice in the supply chain sector for fertiliser are high, according to the Road Haulage Association (RHA).
The organisation made the comment as it issued a release correcting a statement made earlier this year in relation to the transport of so-called live loads, which includes bags of fertiliser.
According to the body, a reference which suggested bad practice is widespread in the area was not meant to be interpreted in such a way.
"That was certainly not the Association's intention, and the RHA wishes to make it clear that it recognises that the vast majority of fertiliser is transported to a very high standard and regrets any confusion that may have arisen," it added.
The release of the statement has come after the RHA published its written response to the Department of Transport's consultation on roadside facilities.
Among the measures included in the document were calls for improvements to truck parking services.
