Supply chain course initiated in Asia

A training course in supply chain management has been organised in the Philippines, after an industry insider recognised that there was a gap in the number of trained workers in the field.

The course represents positive action on a problem throughout the supply chain industry, and tackles the fact that there is little understanding of supply chains from anybody outside of the business world, such as graduates.

Belle Pacetes, 2GO training manager, announced the new course at the Third Aboitiz-organized Future Leaders Business Summit last week.

"There is, currently, no formal training or education [to produce] professionals," she argued.

"Most practitioners in the supply chain industry [acquired] their expertise from experience, training, simply being on the job [and] learning the ropes."

While this has been the accepted norm for generations of business practice, the options now to modify a supply chain are endless.

One of the most effective ways of improving a supply chain is to outsource the management of the chain to a third party, which can bring a wide range of knowledge, experience and qualifications to the process.
