The Co-operative Group has been commended for its efforts to ensure its supply chain strategy is eco-friendly.
This week, the company was honoured with the Asda Environmental Leadership Award in recognition of its innovative approach to minimising its impact on the natural world.
Peter Marks, group chief executive of The Co-operative Group, welcomed the award, but pledged to continue improving its processes to help safeguard the environment.
This, he said, would be a priority for the organisation even amid the current economic downturn.
Paul Kelly, corporate affairs director at Asda, commented: "The company has demonstrated that sustainability can be fully embedded into the business model and beyond."
He singled out the Co-operative's continuous improvements to its supply chain strategy for praise, along with its investment in low carbon products.
Transport and logistics firms that want to improve their green credentials may wish to invest in Citroen vehicles, as the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders recently commended them for having a lower carbon footprint than any of their competitors.
