Logistics firm DHL has announced it has won the contract to manage B&Q's supply chain operations across the UK.
Under the agreement, DHL will oversee the DIY firm's new distribution centre in Swindon, as well as being responsible for handling supply requirements at the company's regional consolidation centre in Preston Brook.
Jon Wood, vice president of non food retail at DHL supply chain, commented: "We're delighted to have secured this landmark contract. Under the new agreement we are looking forward to using our expertise to create synergies and remove cost from B&Q's value chain."
Rick Jones, director of value chain logistics at B&Q, added that the agreement is a result of the company's review of its distribution strategy, which was conducted earlier this year in a bid for continuous improvement.
Last week, supermarket chain ASDA announced it is aiming to boost its UK supply chain through the appointment of a new head of the division, Simon King, a former Tesco executive.
