Exhibition to focus on engineering supply chain

Monday, 06/9/2010 03:50
An exhibition opening today will focus on the UK's engineering sector and is designed to encourage a new generation of innovators, the government claims.

Unveiling the showcase at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, business minister Mark Prisk claimed that the exhibition, which includes cutting-edge products, is the first in a planned "rolling programme".

The theme for the first programme is the engineering supply chain, with exhibits from JCB as well as three other companies who are part of their supply chain - Mazak UK, Renishaw and Craftsman Tools.

Mr Prisk commented: "Britain is a world leader in manufacturing but if we are to inspire future generations we must do all we can to promote UK excellence."

It comes after a recent study by industry body the Confederation of Indian Industry and Amarthi Consulting found that an inadequate supply chain infrastructure and a lack of visibility are both challenges facing global firms in the present climate.
