Haulage firm outlines process improvements

A Lancashire-based haulage firm has outlined the steps it has taken to remain competitive throughout the recession.

Macgregor Europe, which has its headquarters in Nelson, has spent the last year introducing a new warehouse management system and updates to its IT infrastructure.

According to managing director Frazer Durris, these have helped to improve the company's internal processes by making them more efficient.

As a result, he believes the firm has been able to continue providing a quality service to its customers, who are "demanding the highest service levels" during the current economic downturn.

"It has really focused us on maximising our efficiencies," Mr Durris commented.

Speaking to the Lancashire Telegraph, he added that the process improvements have also helped it to offer "extremely competitive" pricing.

This comes after Justin Stanton, editor of Motor Transport, praised the entire transport and logistics sector for setting a positive example to industry during the economic downturn.
