Kwik-Fit has recently announced major changes to its supply chain which will see its delivery capabilities and supplier base expand dramatically, a Materials World Handling report has concluded.
The vehicle repair and maintenance company has recently moved its supplies to a 45,000 sq ft national distribution centre at Corby, in an attempt to reduce the problems it has faced in the past.
Essentially, Kwik-Fit has been keen on reducing problems such as short notice supply issues and high costs of the products it provides as a result of parts manufacturers holding on to them for Kwik-Fit.
"We now have a resilient and industry-leading supply chain that enables us to continue growing in the UK and to manage our costs better in the future" Chris Bosworth, Kwik-Fit's marketing and business development director told Materials Handling World.
Improving a supply chain is one of the most efficient means of cutting costs in any business, and contracting a third-party supply chain management company can allow costs to be cut while sparing an organisation both time and money.
