Davies Turner will be able to offer complete supply chain solutions from its hub at Avonmouth in Bristol after building a new distribution centre.
The new centre now accompanies an existing purpose built transit facility.
A total of 21 loading doors allow the firm to hold an extra 11,000 standard pallets at its new distribution hub giving more space for the unloading and loading of deliveries.
The change has been prompted by a need for large open-areas for order sorting and checking and the new distribution centre will provide a cost-effective flow of products from receipt of goods to storage and pickup.
According to reports from the Transport News Network, the full supply chain requirements of the firm's customers can be catered for at the new site.
Philip Stephenson, joint managing director of the firm, said that the development was "much needed".
"Supporting this physical investment in infrastructure and trailers is our equally important commitment to communications and software development, simplified customs procedures and order-tracking, all of which enable us to meet the shipping and supply chain management needs of our customers," he explained.
