Specialist truck manufacturer Supertrucks has completed delivery of a number of vehicles for glass producer Pilkington.
The vehicles have a number of custom specifications designed to make glass handling easier.
Features on the new trucks include concertina roofs to allow loading by crane from overhead and a racking system on the floor of the truck to allow room for the crane to safely withdraw while keeping the glass on the truck floor.
The truck floor can, however, be covered with folding flaps to offer a completely flat bed.
Branch manager at Pilkington's Birmingham depot Simon Philpott said: "We are very pleased with our four new Supertrucks-bodied 18-tonners. The drivers find them easy to operate and the new bodies are providing even greater operational efficiency on our intensive delivery operation."
The trucks are built on the body of a DAF LF 55-220 chassis cab, which has a 9.5 tonne payload.
Earlier this year Supertrucks confirmed the introduction of a range of new safety and efficiency improvements for glass transport.
