Over $200 million has been saved by reassessing the supply chains of the automotive industry in the US, it has been announced.
In a model that can be applied to many companies in the UK, two leading analysts have worked together in order to provide clearer supply chains with the aim of reducing cost and improving efficiency.
In a statement made to the press, the details of the massive undertaking read: "The
service rendered over $200 million in potential savings through a re-aligned network that maintains industry service levels, while significantly reducing supply chain costs from global sourcing, warehousing, and transportation, through distribution to dealers across North America."
Such realignment of assets can be made to almost any company's supply chain, and any organisation thinking to make such savings within their own business should look at outsourcing, to offer the job to experts with a wide range of expertise and knowledge.
As well as cost-cutting however, supply chain management could in fact increase the value of a company's product, by becoming more green or employing ethical suppliers.
