Supply chain managers spend as much as 52 days a year on dealing with regulations, it has been claimed.
A survey of more than 100 supply chain professionals within UK firms found that 84 per cent spend up to 52 days a year on compliance.
A further 16 per cent said they spend even more time, while 58 per cent claimed to be either concerned or very concerned about the growing number of regulations.
Supply chain managers are also looking to the government to respond to the number of green regulations being introduced, Retail Bulletin reported.
Andrew Kinder director of industry and product marketing at Infor, said that supply chains were becoming increasingly complicated.
He said that supply chains needed to look at risk management as it was becoming increasingly important.
"Organisations are well practiced at deploying risk management strategies for their data centres and mission critical applications such as order taking and dispatch functions.
"However they often leave supply chains which carry millions of pounds worth of assets, exposed," he added.
