Supply chain professionals are calling on the government to help them reduce the industry's carbon footprint.
A total of 67 per cent of supply chain professionals that were surveyed believed any environmental initiatives should be subsidised by the central government.
Conducted by Infor Survey, the research revealed that 82 per cent of the industry is concerned about reducing their carbon footprints while 96 per cent want better supply chain visibility.
Andrew Kinder, director of industry and product marketing in the supply chain management division of Infor, said the findings showed the pressures on the industry.
A further 90 per cent were concerned about shrinking margins while 89 per cent were concerned about introducing new products.
"As green initiatives continue to be placed at the top of supply chain agendas, they will compete for being prioritised along with traditional business issues such as margin improvement and customer service levels," he explained.
