The transport and logistics sector has been commended for its efforts during the economic downturn.
Justin Stanton, editor of Motor Transport, said companies in the supply chain industry have set a positive example to businesses in the UK.
He said their ability to overcome the various challenges they have faced should act as a "beacon" to British industry as a whole.
"It is a silver lining in the dark clouds of recession that hang over us," Mr Stanton commented.
This, he said, is partly why he was "fiercely proud" to stage the Motor Transport Awards in London this week.
Tradeteam picked up the award for Haulier of the Year at the event, which was staged at the Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane.
Meanwhile, TNT Express came away with three awards, including International Operator of the Year.
This comes shortly after the Road Haulage Association expressed optimism for the long-term prospects of the transport and logistics sector, saying it will be leaner and more efficient when economic conditions begin to improve.
