Goodyear Dunlop announces new supply chain role

Monday, 28/7/2008 05:34
Goodyear Dunlop has announced that Steve Carless is to become the company's market supply chain director for the UK and Ireland.

The role has been newly created with Mr Carless in mind, and has been created in order to improve effectiveness, reduce costs and give superior customer satisfaction, it has been reported.

Such a role is vital to any company as supply chains are becoming more scrutinised than ever before, with both green and ethical factors being taken into account by marketing teams and the general public.

Mr Carless has been promoted to the position from his previous role as market planning director, and will lead the way in creating an efficient supply chain.

In recent years the supply chain has come under scrutiny thanks to the insistence of the general public that their goods are both sourced and produced ethically, meaning labour practices are being reviewed at every stage.

Simultaneously, a heightened awareness of the environmental impact of long supply chains has meant that companies are now forced to 'green up' their operations.

Such undertakings are lengthy and expensive however, and so outsourcing such actions is often the best way to ensure a supply chain is both efficient and respectable in the face of the public.
