UK supermarket chain Morrisons has sealed a £1.5 million deal to help boost its supply chain and increase operational efficiency.
The firm has signed a contract with Zetes that will see the European group provide a wireless IT infrastructure for five of its manufacturing locations.
Part of Morrisions' continued investment in upgrading its IT capabilities, the wireless network will result in more accurate and automated processes at the facilities.
The programme will also enable the manufacturing centres to receive real-time information held within Morrisons' Oracle eBiz ERP system.
Alain Wirtz, chief executive officer of Zetes, said he was "very proud" to be awarded the new contract with the UK's fourth-biggest supermarket chain.
"Our wide range of solutions, which cover the needs of the entire supply chain, allow companies like Morrisons to have a single point of contact for the many projects requiring the implementation, using a wide range of data capture technologies," he added.
Earlier this week, DHL agreed a new logistics deal with Petroplus that will see it manage orders, customer service and transport for the company.
The contract, worth an estimated £30 million over the next five years, prolongs a continuing partnership that has been in place for the past nine years.
