Global sportswear brand Nike has opened a new logistics centre in China as it looks to focus on continuous improvement in the supply chain.
The 200,000 sq m distribution facility, called the China Logistics Center, is located in Taicang, Jiangsu and will handle inbound and outbound Nike goods.
Nike already has distribution centres in the US, Belgium, Canada, Japan and South Korea, with the newest addition marking the company's seventh facility.
The new facility focuses heavily on reducing the company's environmental impact and features rainwater collection and vacuum sewage systems, which will reduce water usage by 80 per cent each year.
"The Nike China Logistics Centre has brought a series of firsts to the industry in China and is helping to redefine how large-scale facilities can operate more sustainably," added Hans van Alebeek, the brand's vice-president of global operations and technology.
Back in November, Nike unveiled its new store in London. The flagship Niketown store on Oxford Circus is the largest Nike store in the world.
