Waitrose aims to boost supply chain strategy

Friday, 30/7/2010 11:42
Waitrose is attempting to improve its supply chain strategy with the addition of a new director.

David Jones will take on the role of supply chain director from August 31st, after previously occupying the post of national registrar for John Lewis.

Commenting on Mr Jones's appointment, Mark Price, managing director of Waitrose, said that his experience will enable the company to improve its supply chain strategy, while his previous roles with the company as head of buying and branch manger will prove useful.

"David's deep understanding of our business and wide experience at senior level makes him ideally suited to this role. I am delighted that, once again, we have been able to draw on our own talent pool to fill this important position," Mr Price stated.

The move comes after logistical services provider DSV agreed a deal which will see it distribute products from surgical products manufacturer Molnlycke Health Care across 14 countries.
