A leading manufacturer has announced the launch of a new system designed to boost the efficiency of companies'
supply chain inventory strategy.
Amcor has announced that the new initiative will give packers round-the-clock access to packaging materials and real-time visibility of stock levels, Food Production Daily has reported.
The ePlus system is designed to prevent stock imbalances and includes a tracking facility that allows people to follow the location of orders.
Martin Dallas, marketing director for Amcor Flexibles Europe & Americas, told the website that the advances will allow Amcor to fully manage supply chain stock levels while ensuring there is no obsolete stock.
He said: "If requirements exceed the forecast Amcor will be able to spot this quickly and then manufacture more packaging in the appropriate European location."
Supply Chain Standard's Penelope Ody recently claimed that the growth of internet retail has transformed logistics inventory strategies and introduced new options to older techniques.
