Warrington-based consultancy Risk Solutions has been selected to by the Department for Transport (DfT) to oversee the UK longer semi-trailer trial, reports Commercial Motor.
The firm will look carefully at the operational safety, manoeuvrability and the economy of the 1,800 longer trailers over a four month period.
Risk Solutions, which has been in operation for over 14 years, will also being working alongside the Highways Agency in its attempts to map out a safe strategic model for the nation’s road networks.
The DfT will be announcing which transport and logistics firms have been selected to take part in the trial tomorrow (Thursday December 15th) morning.
It was confirmed by the DfT at the beginning of October that the scheme for longer semi-trailers would form part of a ten year long pilot running up to 2022.
The current maximum gross weight off 44 tonnes, however, will remain unchanged.
