Global consulting and outsourcing firm Accenture has revealed that the US Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) has awarded it a four-year, $73 million (£48 million) contract to integrate DLA's energy supply chain into its enterprise business system (EBS) programme.
According to Accenture, the energy convergence programme is intended to incorporate DLA's energy supply chain business into its enterprise resource planning architecture, which was introduced by the firm in 2000 through its business systems modernisation contract.
Lisa Mascolo, managing director of Accenture's US federal practice, said bringing energy into the EBS environment is the DLA's "final step" to achieving a "leading-edge" logistics system.
"We look forward to helping DLA and DESC continue providing for America's armed forces through an efficient, reliable and speedy supply chain that meets the ever-changing needs of DLA's customers," she stated.
It comes after a post on the Perceptant blog noted that firms looking to streamline their supply chain strategy and maximise input will find that collaborative planning is the solution to their problems.
