Delhaize appoints Messier for supply chain role

Thursday, 28/8/2008 05:30
Major US food retailer Delhaize has announced its appointment of Mark Messier as vice president of its cross-banner supply chain in the United States.

Mr Messier has been moved from his position of vice president of retail services at Delhaize's largest subsidiary Food Lion.

The post will allow Mr Messier to realign the supply chain throughout the company's subsidiaries, and create a combined and super-effective supply chain management system throughout the company.

Such redesigns are crucial to companies of all kinds, and taking a new look at an existing supply chain can offer great benefits to companies that have previously been missing out on new opportunities.

One of the most effective ways to update a supply chain is to outsource a company's supply chain management, which will ensure an experienced executive from a third will be able to critically assess a supply chain.

Outsourcing supply chain management can be the most effective way of getting new and exciting ideas in to a company's supply chain, while also freeing up time among management within the company to focus on other areas of the business.
