Achieving a smaller carbon footprint is one of the top items on the agenda of this year's ILOG Supply Chain Excellence Symposium 2008, it has been announced.
In order to give businesses a strong idea of how to improve supply chain practice, the conference will discuss how to remove environmentally damaging factors from a business' supply chain.
The conference will begin today (September 10) and will continue until September 12, in Chicago.
"Implementing the wrong flexible supply chain strategy can be costly," explained ILOG chief science officer and keynote speaker David Simchi-Levi.
"Therefore, it is critical to identify when, where and how these strategies are needed. Implementing the correct strategy from one end of the supply chain to the other as opposed to managing the supply chain based on one product at a time will better manage risk and reduce costs."
For many businesses, such changes can be a daunting task, but with the help of a third party supply chain management company, restructuring can be carried out with confidence.
