Survey: Firms will enhance supply chain recruitment

There has been a huge rise in the number of original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) intending to increase staff numbers in the area of supply chain management, it has been claimed.

Riverwood Solutions has conducted its 2010 OEM Survey, which shows that 72 per cent of such companies reported increasing their recruitment numbers this year, compared to just 29 per cent in 2009.

In addition, 54.5 per cent of OEM respondents indicated that they were likely to investigate or implement a major new operations tool in the coming months.

Ron Keith, chief executive of Riverwood Solutions, said the 2010 OEM survey results "clearly indicate" that the global economic climate has dramatically improved in the last few months.

"We are encouraged by the much improved overall economic environment and increasing new customer opportunities as OEMs reassess their current outsource strategies and supplier partnerships," he said.

It comes after logistics and supply chain services provider Aramex revealed that it enjoyed strong growth in freight services across Europe in the second quarter of this year.
