Ford is to adopt a new system designed to help bolster its UK-based supply chain.
The company will use the system to help improve the management of completed vehicle movement from plants to car dealers in the UK.
It will be provided by Sovereign Business Integration and delivered via a SAS (software as a system) model.
The idea behind the system is that Ford will be able to have a much better view of where vehicles are in the supply chain.
Cars will be tracked using radio-frequency identification (RFID) as well as data entry and barcode entry.
It is hoped that the new system will help to improve communication between the company and dealerships, as well as cut costs for Ford.
The Ford Motor Company was founded in the US in 1903 by Henry Ford and is based in Dearborn, Michigan.
