Wine merchant's new system to reduce admin time

Berry Bros & Rudd is set to introduce a combined back office and point-of-sale system to support its Irish businesses.

The wine merchant is hoping to increase sales across its retail and wholesale channels as its current system is preventing it from achieving the number of sales it would like.

According to Jessica Lavin, general manager of Berry Bros & Ruff Ireland, the old system is restricting employees by forcing them to spend more time on administration rather than selling.

The business began trading in Ireland in 1999 and has increased its sales to about £5 million per annum.

But it wants to double its turnover and expects the new system to be up and running by mid-July in time for the Christmas sales peak.

According to reports from Retail Week, the project will then be extended with the aim of specifically improving online sales although this is not expected to begin until 2009.
