DHL Supply Chain has become one of the first businesses to pick up a Jaguar and Land Rover (JLR) Quality Award.

It has won the Best Business Process Quality Improvement Project award for its Inbound Logistics Transition 2008-09 Project.

Undertaken by the DHL Supply Chain's UK-based team, the project involved taking over and running JLR's "two main facilities in the Midlands", focusing on in-plant logistics and the handling of materials.

The project took three months to fully implement and took place between June and August last year involving several new elements, including the creation of a new vehicle operating centre.

DHL's UK Automotive managing director Paul Dyer expressed his pleasure at the project being given the award.

"While we began this project well before the impact of the global recession really began to bite, our work has helped to reduce supply chain costs and improve efficiencies at JLR's key plants," he commented.
