Technology companies have some of the strongest supply chains, according to new research.
IT firms fared well in the findings of the latest AMR Research Supply Chain Top 25 for 2010, which measures the performance of companies' supply chains, including manufacturing and customer experience.
Apple was ranked first for the third year in a row and was joined in the top ten by five other technology companies.
Cisco featured third in the list, Dell came fifth, Samsung Electronics came in seventh, IBM was one place behind in eighth, and Research in Motion claimed ninth spot.
Meanwhile, Microsoft, HP, Intel, Nokia and Best Buy also featured in the top 25.
Debra Hofman, research vice president at AMR Research, noted that supply chain management had become a key issue for major businesses, with many seeking the outside help of consultancy firms.
"It seems clear that supply chain has grown up and the business has taken notice," she said.
According to the recent Corporate Executive Board's Business Barometer survey, over half of business identified supply chain security as one of their top priorities.
