Companies looking to improve their transport planning and benefit from supply chain cost reduction could take advantage of a range of new business opportunities.

According to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), its new partnership with the Welsh Automotive Forum will help assist firms in Wales.

The collaboration will help support the group's Automotive Supplier Finder (ASF) service within the country, enabling businesses to identify and link up with new suppliers.

SMMT chief executive Paul Everitt said: "This partnership provides a great opportunity for supply chain companies to increase their profile.

"The database will ensure that the region is best placed to take advantage of the potential business that being part of ASF can offer."

ASF is designed to match buyers to suppliers according to pre-defined criteria - and lists a total of 8,000 companies and 3,000 product classifications.

The service was recently updated to make it more effective and easier to use, with a new feature designed to keep managers in touch with up-to-date, relevant business data.
