Michael Jack, the chairman of the Commons Committee which will investigate the supply chain, told the Western Morning News: "I think the government has woken up to the fact that the bit of Defra which didn't speak in a long time - the £70 billion food industry - is now centre stage.
"I would say that the government is now engaged with it, whereas three years ago it wasn't."
