National off license chain Threshers is celebrating the success of the revamp of its supply chain, it has been reported.
The company decided last year that it would begin overhauling its supply chain, beginning with its IT systems.
"We wanted a system that gave us better management and control, identified opportunities and enabled us to set up a new range of prices," Threshers IT director Nicola Duckett told Computing.
After outsourcing the company's IT data work, however, Threshers found that it had more staff resources available to focus on further supply chain initiatives.
Outsourcing supply chain management is often a useful way to reduce costs and increase the efficiency of a supply chain.
A supply chain management company can bring an experienced and fresh pair of eyes to any company hoping to revamp their own supply chain in order to save money and increase business efficiency.
Commenting on one of the areas Threshers was failing to make the most of its position in the market place, Thresher Group chief executive Yvonne Rankin told Computing: "Historically the firm was geared towards pushing out products, rather like a wholesaler, as opposed to acting more like a retailer and listening to what the customer needs."
