Almost all companies surveyed recently have confirmed that they have experienced supply chain disruptions over the past year, it has been announced.
Recent figures show that 99 per cent of businesses, when asked, said that they have had at least one problem connected to supply chain management in the past 12 months, with almost two in three (58 per cent) companies suffering financially as a result.
"Growing global operations are forcing companies to more pro-actively evaluate and address their supply chain risks," said Viktoriya Sadlovska, research analyst at the firm which carried out the survey.
"Companies are sourcing from and selling to more new regions, often adding new carriers, forwarders, logistics, and distribution partners to their network. At the same time, customers are continuously demanding improved service levels."
For any company with a regular supply chain management problem, outsourcing may be the answer, as doing so will save management time and money, and will put the operations of the supply chain into hands of experienced and knowledgeable experts.
"Supply chain risk management and
new processes and technologies to make
supply chains more risk-resilient," are the issues to be focused on more in the near future, added Ms Sadlovska.
