Borders announces supply chain changeover

Wednesday, 03/9/2008 05:12
The UK branch of Borders bookstore has announced alterations to its supply chain team as Geoff O'Neill, head of supply chain at the firm is said to be leaving the company on September 26.

The supply chain department has undergone some significant developments recently, with the company's Cornwall distribution centre closing last week and recruitment going through a reshuffle.

O'Neill will be moving within the company, having made a positive impact on Borders' supply chain management.

Chiefly, O'Neill has been accredited to reducing Borders' inventory, as well as selecting the infrastructure partners for the company's website.

Such moves are classic cost-cutting initiatives but are often difficult to implement without problems arising that can derail the process.

Many companies may currently be looking forward to stripping out their own inventories as well as streamlining deliveries, but may wish to look for a third party supply chain management company to assist in delivering such extensive changes to a company.
