Supply chain reassessment crucial in today's marketplace

Reassessing the organisation of a supply chain is seen as a costly way to make improvements to a business, a Supply Chain Standard report has suggested.

However, the benefits of redesigning a supply chain are immense, and can not only save a business a great deal of money but also improve its services through increased efficiency or creating a greener reputation.

What's more, a third-party supply chain company can help make such an assessment easier, as the experience held by those working in such an organisation means that businesses are able to reap the rewards of extensive knowledge concerning supply chains.

Reducing a supply chain's exposure to oil prices is one aspect currently attracting attention from businesses.

Despite the low oil price at present the volatility of the prices over the past year is enough to convince many organisations that a reduction in their exposure to these fluctuations is essential in the coming year.

Another concern is the amount of CO2 emitted from a company, as the world becomes more aware of the impact businesses and individuals have on the environment.
