Fixing supply chain gaps 'crucial for achieving business goals'

Gaps in a supply chain could be what costs a company achieving a truly energy efficient business model, it has been heard.

Energy efficiency is becoming all the more important as the UK economy threatens to slip into a recession, while consumers increasingly demand more environmentally-friendly goods.

As such, it is becoming a necessity for businesses to assess their supply chain and to clamp down on gaps which are leaving their product exposed to high costs and negative press.

Peter Walsh, energy manager with Renew, told nebusiness.co.uk: "Carbon is becoming a commodity, but it also equals money savings. There's some way to go before businesses and organisations recognise the opportunities that already exist for improving use of resources and reducing energy costs."

A supply chain management company would be best suited to making such assessments, as well as offering new and incisive methods of achieving various goals in relation to any business' supply chain.
