IBM announce Dublin supply chain centre

Thursday, 18/9/2008 11:50
IBM has recently announced an investment of €30 million for a new supply chain management centre in Dublin, it has been reported.

Coupled with support from the Industrial Development Agency of Ireland, the money will mean IBM has a launch-pad from Ireland to distribute its products across 84 countries.

The centre is the result of research into "energy-efficient green strategies and technology innovations that optimise space, power cooling and resiliency while reducing costs and supporting business growth", a statement read.

Only recently IBM announced that it would be launching a supply chain research centre in China to seek out best practice when contemplating its worldwide customer base.

Many more companies hoping to reassess their own supply chains without such financial clout behind them may wish to employ a third party supply chain management company to increase efficiencies for them.

A third party supply chain management company can offer not only a fresh perspective for a business hoping to reduce costs but also a wealth of experience gained from multiple supply chain experts available at its disposal.
