Renault is doing its bit for green logistics by releasing the world's largest all-electric truck.
Its new 16 ton Midlum offers a quieter and more environmentally solution for urban deliveries and will be tested over a one year period by French supply chain specialists STEF-TFE, with a UK launch possible afterwards.
At present it's very much an experimental vehicle. It can be fully charged in just eight hours and has been specifically engineered to keep up with changes in metropolitan delivery networks.
Transporting goods in the greenest way possible is a challenge that all logistics companies have to contend with and cities, such as London, have created low emission zones in recent years.
Having a low carbon footprint is important for any forward-thinking company now and news of the truck launch follows hot on the heels of a recent move by delivery specialists DHL, who are set to begin use of electric powered cars.
