Logistics transport manufacturer Scania has confirmed plans to increase production of supply chain vehicles in Europe.
The organisation has announced it is aiming to recruit 500 new employees at its European facilities, as it prepares to increase its production rate in the fourth quarter of this year.
According to Scania, increased demand for trucks across the globe has led the organisation to make the decision, which builds on the move to also hire 500 people earlier this year.
Anders Nielsen, executive vice-president and head of production and logistics at Scania, said: "During 2009 our employees used the period of low capacity utilisation for training and to develop and improve our methods and ways of working.
"Thanks to these efforts, we have achieved substantially improved productivity."
With interests in around 100 countries, Scania is one of the largest manufacturers of heavy trucks and buses – as well as related engines – in the world.
