Supply chain localisation produces benefits, says manufacturer

ComeSys, a manufacturer of control measurement systems for vehicles, has announced that it is to make its supply chain far more local to the North East of England.

Removing some international aspects of its supply chain operation will lead to the company saving on costs, emissions, and exposure to volatile currencies.

ComeSys director Ryan Maughan, said: "It is great to be establishing a local supply chain as this will greatly enhance the flexibility of our business and eliminate some of the supply chain issues we have experienced whilst sourcing these components in the Far East."

While many supply chain managers may imagine the cost of production in the UK is higher, Mr Maughan explains that: "The cost of setting up this supply chain locally is competitive with sourcing parts from Asia when all of the associated costs are taken into account."

Supply chain management companies can assist businesses in achieving a localisation of a supply chain, whether a company is doing it for environmental, security or financial reasons.
