Technology improves poultry export efficiency

Wednesday, 29/10/2008 09:34
German fresh poultry supplier Emsland FrischgeflA 1/4gel (EFA) has implemented new scanning devices to its export barcode tracking systems, it has been confirmed.

EFA, which exports 1.7 million fresh chickens each week, has added new multi-barcode scanning technology to its output line in order to both reduce the chances of shipping errors and speed up the factory line process.

Previously, barcode scanning was done by hand, which was both time-consuming and presented a higher risk of error.

Adopting new technology is one way in which a company can improve its supply chain in terms of efficiency and cost.

To discover the best ways to improve an existing supply chain it may be best to contact a third-party supply chain management consultancy in order to make use of the extensive supply chain knowledge available.
