While many companies are being forced to tighten their proverbial belts, logistics provider Dachser has stated that it plans on intensifying its driver training programmes and recruitment schemes throughout 2012.
During 2011, the German firm created 1,700 new jobs, taking its total staff number close to 21,000 and it sees no reason to put a freeze on recruitment despite the world being in the midst of a economic crisis.
Bernhard Simon, head of the Dachser management board, said that while there is much talk about many skilled specialists being out of work, the firm has found it difficult to recruit people it feels would fit its needs.
“The mission to recruit and retain qualified people is part of our long-term strategic orientation – even when the going gets tough,” he added.
Dachser are not the only logistics planning firm to have bolstered their staff numbers this year. In October ABC Overnight unveiled their new specialist warehouse, creating more than 300 additional positions.
