The chief executive of fashion retailer New Look has claimed that supply chain improvements have helped the company take market share from Marks and Spencer.
Speaking to the Times, Carl McPhail noted that the retailer had created 1,800 jobs and increased its selling space.
"We will probably create the same number this year," he added.
"The strength of our management team means that we are confident in having great product in-store at the right time, at a great price."
Total sales at New Look in the year ending March 28th rose to £1.3 billion, an increase of 14.9 per cent.
Mr McPhail noted that the average New Look basket came in at 20 to 30 per cent cheaper than other retailers in the sector such as Marks and Spencer and Next.
"We sell 4,300 units of jewellery and hair accessories every hour. We also sold more than 1.3 million pairs of leggings last year," he concluded.
