A growing number of companies in India are seeking to implement supply chain cost reduction initiatives in an effort to boost productivity during the recession, it has been revealed.
The Business Standard reports the country has seen more retailers looking to implement new policies that focus on streamlining their logistics so that they can remain profitable despite the global economic downturn.
The move could provide opportunities for logistics firms in the UK to boost business by providing their expertise to Indian operations.
"Retailers can reduce costs [by] 15-20 per cent by effective supply chain management, pruning store sizes and rationalising real estate portfolios," Sanjay Chugh, national head, business development, retail, Jones Lang Lasalle Meghraj, told the newspaper.
Businesses around the world are increasingly looking to improve their supply chain strategy so as to develop more efficient ways to procure goods during the recession.
