The importance of investing in the supply chain is to be discussed at the 2009 SCALA annual logistics debate.
With the credit crunch impacting on a large number of businesses, SCALA has changed the focus of the next debate, set to take place on June 18th.
John Perry, managing director of the group, said that many business owners are now faced with a "stark choice" with investment decisions.
"Should they invest in order to achieve long-term cost and service benefits, or should they cut costs now to impact the bottom line in a positive way?" he questioned.
Over 200 top supply chain and logistics professionals are expected to attend the event at Wroxall Abbey near Coventry, including Steve Eastham, operations director of Tetley Tea and Beth Cauldwell, director of Snowden Tate.
As well as debating, it is an excellent opportunity to discuss environmentally-friendly supply chains and network with manager in similar situations.
