Home theatre manufacturer LG has announced plans to become one of the world's top two manufacturers of home TV and entertainment systems.
The company revealed five key steps it will take in order to achieve a market share of 16 per cent and the sale of over 21 million flat screen TVs this year.
Reorganising its supply chain comes as one of the five major tasks LG will deal with in its attempts to improve service this year.
Announcing that LG will expand its supply chain managing infrastructure, a statement from the company said: "The company will also strengthen its partnership with panel maker LG Display to promptly and efficiently meet market needs and guarantee steady profits even in today's difficult economy."
Reorganising the structure of a supply chain can bring about great savings, and doing so now is more important than in recent years, as not only can such a change offer savings for a company but supply chain management can help an organisation reduce its CO2 emissions, adding value to a product at a crucial time economically.
Third-party supply chain management companies can lend businesses the expertise required to make the most of the opportunity to save money through redesigning a supply chain, and could ensure a business is well protected against the possibility of a client or supplier going under in the recession.
