Benefits from the London Olympics in 2012 are likely to be felt throughout the UK, Lord Sebastian Coe has said.
The former athlete, who was also the brains behind the British capital's bid, claimed that there is more than just the tourism industry that will see an effect from the 2012 Games.
Speaking at the UKinbound convention in Manchester, the Olympic gold medallist said: "More and more, as we get into this project, the procurement opportunities both on the supply side and in the organising committee [will increase].
"In statistics we need a hundred million pieces of sports equipment, 17,000 beds, acre upon acre of curtain material, 25,000 bread rolls a week, it's an extraordinary opportunity."
Organisers of the Games have suggested that as well as 7,000 direct contacts made with the event, there will be 75,000 enterprises across the supply chain that will see a benefit.
Sectors expected to significantly benefit include construction, creative, merchandising, manufacturing and retail.
