Supply chain expenses hit Dubai Trump Tower

Dubai's state developer Nakheel has had to announce it is to make redundancies as well as put on hold the construction of the upcoming Trump Tower.

The decision to put on hold the construction of the Trump Towers, as well as several other high profile building projects, is an example of the problems which face international supply chains.

So far, Middle Eastern economies have been fairing much better than those in the west but the myriad factors that connect all economies and business models are starting to create a scenario in which even 'safe' economies are feeling the effects of the credit crunch.

A spokesperson explained the measures: "We have the responsibility to adjust our short-term business plans to accommodate the current global environment.

"The redundancies are indeed regrettable, but a necessity dictated by operational requirements which are in turn dependent on demand."

International supply chains will be affected by the shifting economies, making supply chain management a crucial part of any company's organisation in the coming year.

Third-party supply chain management companies can offer organisations insightful techniques to ensure a business is well-protected from negative outside forces.
