The support offered involves help for trusts who are rolling out new digital mammography technology to comply with Department of Health rules.
NHS Supply Chain has worked with 40 trusts so far in helping to procure 112 mammography machines since November 2007. The machines are the latest technology in targeted breast cancer screening.
Andy Brown, managing director of diagnostics at NHS Supply Chain, told the website: "We have worked with the National Breast Cancer Screening Office and the Regional Quality Assurance Reference Centres to understand the requirements of the NHS on a regional and national basis and are helping trusts meet these regulations in the most cost-efficient and timely way."
NHS Supply Chain provides end-to-end supply chain services incorporating procurement, logistics, e-commerce, and customer and supplier support, with the aim of providing more than £1 billion in savings.
